art project ON THE LEDGE

One thing we did as a group was create an art exhibit on THE LEDGE in Meir Hall.
I created a whole "Keystone Pipeline" art project.
I HAD VISION.
But the execution was eh...
although I think the whole thing together was pretty cool.
It was fun to create art together.
It was fun to have it actually out in public...
and it helped think about art and its impact on the workplace, the learning environment.

ART CAN EFFECT CHANGE...

Maybe not intended change, like blocking Keystone, BUT it has an impact on environment, which impacts people's daily lives...in unintended ways, but it has impact.

The hope, of course, is for POSITIVE impact.

It makes me think about curriuclum:

HOW CAN I GET BLOCK STUDENTS OR EDU 100 STUDENTS, OR FUTURE FIRST YEAR SEMINAR STUDENTS TO CREATE SOMETHING THAT IS EXHIBITED PUBLICLY...

The other thing I found interesting is the JUST DO IT approach we took. we did not ask for permission, we just did it.

WHAT I WANT TO DO IN THE FALL:
BULLETIN BOARDS!
These are one way that would increase the beauty of the classroom we use for education.
I would like to assign students in groups to make a bulletin board weekly.
The bulletin board would display OUR work, so they would do teach a social studies lesson using a strategy best practices that produces an outcome, that they collect and post on the bulletin board.

Wish we had access to the dicot machine. (or whatever it is called these days).
